The MUZ Fabrication 2025+ Kia K4 GT-Line Hatchback Axle-Back Exhaust was developed as a direct-fit upgrade for owners looking for a deeper, more refined exhaust tone without sacrificing the drivability and fitment expected from a daily-driven vehicle.

Rather than simply removing muffling to create more volume, our system was designed around sound quality, exhaust flow and fabrication quality. The result is a smooth, deep and sporty exhaust note with more presence on startup and under acceleration, while avoiding the excessive rasp, harshness and unwanted resonance commonly associated with overly aggressive axle-back systems.

Full 2.5" Exhaust Path

The MUZ axle-back uses 2.5-inch 304 stainless steel tubing throughout the entire system, providing a consistent exhaust path from the inlet flange through to the outlet.

Particular attention was paid to the factory connection. As shown in our comparison photos, the OEM axle-back uses a noticeably restricted inlet opening and transition. Our replacement flange and tubing maintain the full 2.5-inch flow area, eliminating the unnecessary neck-down at the entrance to the axle-back.

This creates a smoother transition into the system and complements the increased airflow demands of the 1.6L turbocharged engine.

Designed for Sound Quality — Not Just Volume

A good exhaust should do more than make a car louder.

The muffler configuration and 2.5-inch tubing used in the MUZ system were selected to produce a deeper, fuller exhaust note while maintaining the refinement expected from a modern street car.

At idle and during normal driving, the exhaust retains a clean and controlled character. Under throttle, the 1.6T develops a significantly more pronounced and engaging exhaust note without introducing the hollow, raspy or excessively boomy sound often associated with straight-through muffler deletes and oversized exhaust systems.

The goal is an OEM+ sound profile: noticeably sportier than stock, but still something you can comfortably live with every day.

Back-Purged TIG Welded Construction

Fabrication quality is just as important as the finished appearance.

Every MUZ K4 axle-back is TIG welded and back purged during fabrication, protecting the inside of the stainless tubing from oxidation while the weld is being made. This produces a cleaner internal weld surface and helps maintain a smooth exhaust path through each welded joint.

The inlet flange is also welded from both sides, providing additional strength at one of the most highly loaded areas of the exhaust system while allowing the internal transition to be finished cleanly.

It is a level of fabrication normally associated with custom motorsport exhaust work rather than a typical mass-produced axle-back.

Direct-Fit OEM-Style Installation

The system is built around the factory exhaust layout and mounting locations for straightforward installation.

The factory axle-back is removed and the MUZ assembly installs using the original connection point and exhaust hanger locations, maintaining proper positioning and clearance beneath the vehicle.

The finished system follows the natural routing of the K4 rear suspension and chassis while replacing the large factory rear muffler assembly with a much more compact performance-oriented design.

Unlike a universal muffler adapted to the vehicle, this axle-back was developed specifically around the 2025+ Kia K4 GT-Line Hatchback.

Each system reflects the same fabrication standards we use throughout our custom exhaust, turbo and motorsport work at MUZ Fabrication: proper material preparation, accurate fitment, back-purged TIG welding and careful attention to the internal exhaust path—not simply how the welds look from the outside.

Sound

Stock: Quiet, highly subdued and designed primarily around factory noise targets.

MUZ Axle-Back: Deeper and fuller at idle, more pronounced on startup and noticeably more aggressive under acceleration while retaining a smooth, mature tone suitable for daily use.

This isn't intended to turn the K4 into an excessively loud or harsh car. The objective was to bring out the character of the turbocharged 1.6L engine while keeping the exhaust clean and refined.
